NYC Diaries: Cash or Trash?: is Van Leeuwen's ice cream worth the hype?

In the world of creative and funky ice creams Van Leeuwen's has become one of the newest trendiest ice cream parlors both in New York and LA, but is it truly worth the buzz?

Okay, so I am not going to lie that it is a splurge for $9 for two scoops but I have to say it is definitely worth the cash! Here's why:

At Van Leeuwens they seem to have cracked the code to creaminess by using organic egg yolks instead of stabilizers. They pride themselves in using real ingredients instead of things such as "natural flavors" or other ingredients you can't pronounce. This in itself sets it apart.

Another check in the pro column for this French ice cream is that they have a ton of creative plant-based options opening up their shop to both vegans and those with dairy allergies.

Now, what really makes this ice cream worth it is its eclectic flavor offerings. My personal favorite is Earl Grey. It's a harmonious blend of tea and creaminess, a delightful deviation from overly sweet flavors. If you want your tastebuds to experience the ultimate flavor explosion you can pair it with the seasonal Pumpkin Cheesecake. It's an irresistible contrast of flavors that's perfect for autumn.

The great news for all my readers is that you don't have to be in New York or Los Angeles to experience the hype. Van Leeuwen's are available is various grocery stores, including Whole Foods. So, whether you're on the East Coast, West Coast, or anywhere in between, you can still experience a scoop of this luxury.
